The benefits of thermal mud at Abano Terme

Hotel Smeraldo is a thermal centre specialising in fango-balneotherapy. The mud used in mud therapy is a skilful fusion of three elementary components: a solid, a liquid and a biological one.

It is matured through treatment in special tanks for 50-60 days, in which the special microbial properties that infuse the mud with its therapeutic properties develop.

Mud therapy

The mud is applied directly to the skin at a temperature of between 37°C and 38°C for a period of between 15 and 20 minutes. At the end of the application, the mud is removed with a warm shower.

Balneotherapy

Next, you are immersed in the thermal bath at a temperature of 37-38°C for about 8 minutes. After drying and wrapping with warm cloths, it is recommended to rest for 30 to 40 minutes, allowing the sweat reaction to continue the biological effects of the mud bath.

Thermal massage

Combined with the thermal cure, massages perform myorelaxant activities on the body, making a considerable contribution. If one considers that muscle contracture often contributes to the increase in pain symptoms, the contribution this therapy makes to the patient is evident.

Hotel Smeraldo has obtained from the region according to R.R. 22/’02 the “I° Super” qualification level, which identifies respect for the natural resources of the basin and strict discipline in the use of the waters. In addition, in order to offer increasingly qualified services, it collaborates with the Aquaehotels Consortium of Montegrotto and the Institute of Biomolecular Chemistry of the National Research Council C.N.R. of Padua, which guarantees its “quality certification”.
